This study will aim to answer if oral valacyclovir 500mg twice daily can slow the rate of CD4 count decline and ultimately delay the need to start highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in adults with HIV and infrequent recurrences of herpes, who are not currently needing nor taking HAART.

Conclusions: There was no evidence that the Merck Ad5 trivalent vaccine prevented infection or lowered viral set-point. In multivariate analysis of baseline risk factors, vaccination appeared associated with an increased risk of HIV acquisition in men with pre-existing Ad5 immunity and in uncircumcised men.

Davia has been working for Maple Leaf Medical Clinic for the past 9 years working in both administrative and research positions. She is presently working as a Research Coordinator for the OHTN Cohort Study, which is a project to collect information from people with HIV receiving care at 11 sites across Ontario, and has been ongoing since March 2008. Maple Leaf Medical Clinic has consented over 1000 patients to date and will continue to follow them for the next 4 years.  Davia has taught English in Toronto, Victoria, B.C., Korea and Thailand. She loves to travel, and has a variety of interests. Some of her hobbies are cycling, walking, reading and art.
